Which benefits qualify for ECO4?

Households receiving income-related benefits may be eligible for ECO4, including:

  • Income Support (IS)

  • Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit)

  • Universal Credit (UC)

  • Housing Benefit

  • Child Tax Credit (CTC)

  • Working Tax Credit (WTC)

  • Income-related ESA or JSA

Note: Full eligibility is assessed case by case.


Can I qualify if I don’t receive benefits?

Possibly. The ECO4 LA Flex scheme allows local councils to approve applications from households who don’t receive traditional benefits but are:

  • On a low income

  • Experiencing fuel poverty

  • Considered vulnerable to cold

Is ECO4 available for private tenants or homeowners?

Yes. ECO4 is available to:

  • Homeowners

  • Private tenants (with landlord permission)

Landlords may also benefit from improved property energy efficiency.


Is ECO4 available across the UK?

ECO4 is available in England, Scotland, and Wales.
Some exceptions or additional conditions may apply in Northern Ireland.


How long does the process take?

The full process typically takes:

  • Initial eligibility check: Within 24–48 hours

  • Survey & inspection: 5–7 working days

  • Installation: 1–2 days (depending on the upgrades)

We aim to complete most applications within 2–3 weeks.


Do I have to pay anything?

In most cases, no.
If you’re eligible, the cost of upgrades (boilers, insulation, heat pumps, etc.) is 100% covered under the ECO4 scheme.
In rare cases, a small contribution may be required — we’ll always let you know upfront.
